The awning you don't see until you need it.
A complete stealth awning system you fit yourself. Everything is included, and it mounts on the fixing points the van already has, so no new holes are drilled. You get the shade without the case on the side, so the van still looks like a van, even in the places where a campervan stands out. The sail is marine acrylic with UPF 50+ and gives 14.5 m² of shade. The system weighs 15 kg in total, and only 4 of them stay on the roof: the rest lies in the bag inside the van when you drive.

I built kitchens for camper vans at a Danish dealer. His customers wanted shade, but many of them said no to a cassette awning, because the case on the side gives the van away from the outside. I am a trained stainless steel smith, so I built the first units by hand. For over 12 months and through several prototypes I drove each new version out to him, we tested it, and I took it home and adjusted it. Every part has been gone through with him and held up against what his customers have said.

Warnings
- Never drive with the sail in the rail, not even partly.
- Take the sail down when the wind picks up, and in persistent rain or if there is a risk of snow. Never leave it up overnight or unattended.
- No open fire under the sail. The ground anchors must go at least 300 mm into soft ground. Never stand on the roof. Feed the first 100 to 150 mm of the sail in from an ordinary, stable step stool, never from a ladder. Fit the rail only on vans from L2 up. The roof must have three factory anchors.

- March 2027 We ship the system. Delivery within the EU is included in the price, and you have a 14-day right of withdrawal by law.

We really like the rail system to attach the awning. It looks very clean and discreet. We also like the shape of the awning, as it provides a large shaded area, especially on the sides, which is something many traditional awnings don't offer. And the storage bag is very compact, which is another big advantage when space inside the van is limited.

I think it looks ideal. We were only talking about a canopy of some sort the other day. We only have an awning rail on our van, which we use for a massive air awning, but a sun canopy would be great for the summer months.

Feedback from vanlife creators who followed the product before launch. They have not bought the system and were not paid for their comments. The quotes are excerpts from their messages in the original English, with small spelling fixes, published with their permission.
Why stealth
When the sail is packed away, only the rail is left.
The rail is 3.4 metres long and only 30 mm high. It follows the roof line, and when the sail is in its bag, the van looks like an ordinary van. You can park in the middle of town without the awning giving away that it is a camper.
14.5 m² of shade from a rail 30 mm high.
For the remote spot without a single tree. The sail is 5.6 × 3 metres in marine grade acrylic, the fabric boat covers are made from, with UPF 50+ against the sun. That is what you sit under.

A cassette awning sits in a long case that stays on the van all year. The figures here are the manufacturers' own public figures from August 2026, and the case dimensions are Fiamma's own for the F80s. The weight is without mounting brackets.

Three 3030 profiles join into one rail and bolt onto the roof anchors the van has from the factory. No new holes in the roof. The rail stays up there.

The sail through the rail
The sail has a thick edge running along one side. That edge slides into the groove in the rail from one end, a bit like a zip. For the first 10 to 15 cm you stand on an ordinary step stool. A long strap pulls the rest of the sail through while you stand on the ground. Then you raise the two poles and put in the six ground anchors. You can do it on your own and without tools.
Wind and rain
Tied down at six points.
The sail is tensioned with six ground anchors and six storm straps. Each support pole is made of two tubes. Take the sail down when the wind picks up, and in steady rain.

What about rain?
Take it down in steady rain, because the water pools in the sail and loads the poles and anchors.
Where does it live?
123 × 20 × 20 cm, inside the van.
Sail, poles, anchors and straps all go in one bag. It is long and narrow because the support poles are long, so it sits better along one side of the van than across it.

Questions
What people ask before they buy.
Which vans does it fit?
Large vans from L2 and up that have the factory's own roof anchors: Fiat Ducato, Peugeot Boxer, Citroën Jumper, Citroën Relay, Ram ProMaster, Toyota Proace Max, Renault Master, Opel Movano, Vauxhall Movano, Nissan Interstar, Nissan NV400 and Iveco Daily. The rail bolts straight onto the anchors. The Ford Transit, Mercedes Sprinter, VW Crafter and MAN TGE do not have them and need a mounting kit, which comes in the box at no extra cost. If your van is shorter than L2, the sail does not fit. Medium models like the VW Transporter, Mercedes Vito and Ford Transit Custom are too small, including the long versions.
I already have a keder rail. Can I buy the sail on its own?
Not today, and we do not yet know whether we will. The sail's thick edge, the keder, is 7.5 mm across, if you want to hold it up against your own rail. Write to us if the sail on its own is what you want, so we know how many are asking.
How do I reach the rail?
When you put the sail up, you stand on an ordinary, stable step stool and feed the first 10 to 15 cm of the sail's thick edge into the rail. You pull the rest through from the ground with the pulley strap. Never use a ladder for the sail, and never stand on the roof. The rail you fit once, from a stable step ladder and with a helper.
How long does setup take?
About 10 minutes once the rail is mounted. That is longer than a cassette awning, and it is better you know that now. You fit the rail once and leave it on. Every time you want shade, you pull the sail through the rail with the pulley strap, raise the two support poles and set six ground anchors. You can do it on your own.
Do the ground anchors work on any surface?
The ground anchors have to screw into soft ground, for example a lawn. On asphalt, gravel, stone, loose sand or frozen ground they will not hold. There is no other kind of anchoring in the box, and we do not have a solution for hard surfaces today.
Does the rail make noise while driving?
It is not silent, but it makes less noise than a cassette awning from Thule or Fiamma. Our rail is 30 × 30 mm. The case on a Fiamma F80s is 153 mm deep and 113 mm tall. There is much less for the wind to catch. If you drive a lot on the motorway, it adds up on fuel too.
Do you ship outside the EU?
Delivery to Denmark and the rest of the EU is included in the price. If you live outside the EU, for example in Norway, Switzerland or the UK, write to us before you order. Then we work out the shipping with you.
Is NordicStealth right for me?
If you're only out two or three times a year, a cheaper awning is completely fair. NordicStealth is for you if you use your van a lot, care about how it looks, and want serious shade without a box on the side of the van.

Before you pay
What can go wrong, and what you can do about it.
You are paying now for something that does not ship until March 2027. So it is fair to ask what happens if it does not go to plan.

Delivery can be delayed
We say March 2027 because that is what we expect. If it slips, you hear it from us straight away with a new date. If the new date does not suit you, you can cancel and get the full amount back.

You can cancel until we ship and withdraw after delivery
Before we ship, you cancel just by writing to us, and you get all your money back. That is our own promise. Once you have received the system, you have 14 days to change your mind, and that follows from the law. We pay the return shipping within the EU. Write to us and we will arrange the collection.

How you get your money back
If we refund you within 120 days of your payment, the money goes back the same way, that is to the card or account you paid with. If more time has passed, we transfer it to your bank account and ask you for the account number.

If it does not fit your van
You choose your van in the order, so we can check that the system fits it. If you picked wrong, write to us before we ship and we will correct or cancel the order free of charge. If it turns out after delivery that the system does not fit, that is a defect, and we take it back and pay the shipping.
